The secluded land of Kamui, nestled among mountains, has long thrived under the protection of its guardian deity, Hiiragi no Kotama. The deity's favor has granted its people peace and prosperity, with the Imperial Guard—an organization serving Hiiragi no Kotama—maintaining order and correcting any wrongdoing among the regional lords.
This long-standing peace is threatened by the insidious spread of a foreign faith called the Light of Salvation. As this new religion introduces unfamiliar customs and converts the populace in remote areas, Hiiragi no Kotama dispatches Imperial Guard member Himeki Kyōka and the captured outlaw Amagumi Rei to investigate. Their mission will ultimately decide the fate of Kamui.
